Capello is an Italian professional endurance racing driver with an established record in sportscar competition. His recorded career spans three World Endurance Championship starts in 2012 with Audi Sport Team Joest, the works Audi programme fielding the pinnacle machinery of the era. Across those three races he secured one victory and two podium finishes, placing him second on average; he finished the season in 22nd place in the championship. The three starts came against a field containing multiple Platinum-graded professionals and established champions, including André Lotterer, Nick Heidfeld, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, Benoît Tréluyer, and Nicolas Prost.[1]
Capello's results in 2012 showed a mixed record against those rivals. He defeated Heidfeld, Jani and Prost in all three shared races and proved faster than Dumas in two of three encounters, including Lotterer once. However, Lotterer and Tréluyer finished ahead of him twice apiece across the same limited sample. His single strongest performance came when he bettered Bertrand Baguette, a multiple-time Platinum-graded champion, once in the field. The evidence suggests a capable professional competitor on equal machinery with the category's elite, capable of individual strong performances but without establishing decisive superiority. His career on this database ends with retirement after the 2012 season.[2]
