Deegener was a semi-professional endurance racing driver competing in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a multiclass national championship in which turbocharged production-based race cars from the SP 3T class shared the track with fourteen other classes in single races. He drove the number 331 car for Raeder Motorsport, an established outfit that fielded a dozen drivers across his time there and counted a professional among its strongest entrants.[1]
Across five seasons from 2010 to 2015, Deegener made 39 starts and took 24 podium finishes, including 14 victories. He won the SP 3T championship in 2010 and again in 2013, both times with Raeder Motorsport. His final season, in 2015, saw him add one podium from two races before retiring from the series.[2]
He raced regularly against Thomas Wasel and Matthias Wasel, both of club and competitive-amateur standing respectively, and finished ahead of them as a rule. In the field's upper tier, Deegener beat Christian Krognes, the 2012 SP 3T champion, six times across their meetings in the series, and finished ahead of Bernd Schneider, an established professional and 1997 FIA GT champion, on two occasions.
