Jan-Erik Meikup is a semi-professional driver who raced single-seater formula cars in 2016, competing in ADAC Formula 4 and Italian F4 for Jenzer Motorsport across a combined 20 starts.[1]
His sole indexed season came in 2016, when he contested 19 rounds of ADAC Formula 4 alongside a single Italian F4 entry. He finished 30th in Italian F4 championship standings. Throughout the season he raced regularly against drivers who would go on to establish professional careers; he typically finished behind established professionals such as Mick Schumacher, a future Formula 2 champion and Formula 1 driver, and Leonard Hoogenboom, an entry-level professional. He did on occasion finish ahead of Richard Verschoor and Juri Vips, both of whom became established professionals in Formula 2 and Formula 3.[2]
Meikup's record shows him mid-field in a grid mixing amateurs and professionals. Jenzer Motorsport, his team across all 20 starts, fielded a large driver roster that included Yuki Tsunoda, who reached the elite professional level.
