Juri Vips is an established professional competing in single-seat and sports car racing. Graded FIA Gold, he races for RLL Team McLaren in IMSA WeatherTech competition. His record spans a decade of open-wheel competition in Formula 2, Formula 3, ADAC Formula 4 and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, alongside three starts in IndyCar on road and street courses and one appearance in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2026.[1]
Vips won the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 championship with Prema Powerteam as the foundation for a career that produced 15 wins across 178 starts. His most sustained success came in Formula 2 between 2020 and 2022 with Hitech Grand Prix, where he recorded three wins and twelve podiums over 59 starts. In the FIA Formula 3 European Championship he took four wins and eight podiums from 31 starts; in Formula 3 proper, three wins and four podiums from 16. His early foray into single-seater racing included wins in both ADAC Formula 4 and Italian F4, with twelve podiums in each championship. A sole entry in Super Formula in 2019 and three IndyCar appearances on road courses completed his open-wheel record before joining IMSA for multiclass prototype and sports car racing.[2]
Vips has raced consistently against established professionals and Gold-graded drivers throughout his Formula career. He was closely matched with Marcus Armstrong and Felipe Drugovich, both Gold-graded champions with substantial careers in Formula 2 and open-wheel racing. He finished ahead of Oscar Piastri, a generational driver now in Formula 1, on eight occasions across their shared single-seat competition. His record against Alex Palou, the elite professional four-time IndyCar champion, shows 17 instances of Vips finishing ahead; though their meetings were spread across different championships and years where their competitive levels differed. His move to sports cars in 2026 marked a transition from a decade competing primarily in junior and regional formula racing to endurance competition at the highest professional level.
