🇲🇽 Jose Gutiérrez

José Gutiérrez is a Mexican professional endurance and single-seater racer, rated 4,426, who competes as an FIA Silver-graded driver in sportscar and endurance racing. He spent most of his career with Juncos Racing across three series: the Pro Mazda Championship single-seater series in North America, the IMSA WeatherTech multiclass endurance championship, and the World Endurance Championship.[1]

Between 2013 and 2015, Gutiérrez contested 34 Pro Mazda starts with Juncos Racing, taking one win and three podiums in a field mixing amateurs and graded professionals. He moved to IMSA WeatherTech in 2016, racing prototypes across its P and PC classes alongside shared-driver endurance entries; over three seasons he scored 13 starts, one win and one podium. His final indexed season came in 2018, when he drove for G-Drive Racing in the WEC LMP2 class, completing one round.[2]

In IMSA, Gutiérrez finished ahead of Pato O'Ward, the 2017 IMSA PC champion and 2018 Indy NXT champion who has since raced IndyCar and Formula E at elite professional level, in multiple meetings across their overlapping time in the series. Against his regular IMSA opponents, he ran closely matched with Garett Grist, an FIA Gold-graded professional, but usually finished behind Neil Alberico, who moved on to Indy NXT. He also finished ahead of Sébastien Buemi, the WEC and Formula E champion, in their single shared race, though Buemi at Platinum grade and with over 250 professional starts represents a vastly higher tier.
