Lance Hooper is a retired entry-level professional who raced in NASCAR Xfinity between 1998 and 2004, primarily for MacDonald Motorsports. His career consisted of 22 starts, nearly all of them on oval tracks. He finished 37th in the championship standings in his final season of 2004.[1]
Hooper's record placed him consistently behind the established professionals who dominated the series during his time. He raced regularly against Randy LaJoie, a two-time Xfinity champion, and Jason Keller, a professional with over 500 starts in the series; Hooper typically finished behind both. In isolated instances he finished ahead of stronger drivers including Tony Stewart, an IndyCar champion competing in the series, and Clint Bowyer, who would go on to win the Xfinity championship in 2008, though such results were exceptions rather than patterns across his limited career.[2]
