Katherine Legge is a British racing driver whose career has spanned some of the highest levels of global motorsport, including IndyCar, Formula E, IMSA, and NASCAR, with an earlier test for Minardi in Formula One. She built her reputation in open-wheel competition, becoming the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America in 2005, and she has continued to add to her list of firsts, including the fastest qualifying effort by a woman in Indianapolis 500 history, set in 2023, and becoming the first woman to attempt Double Duty by competing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Her extensive background across multiple disciplines has made her one of the more prominent international drivers to cross over into NASCAR competition.[1]

Currently competing in the NASCAR Cup Series with Gradient Racing, Legge holds the distinction of being the most recent woman to start a NASCAR Cup Series race. Across 34 career starts in the series, she has yet to record a win or podium finish, and she carries a Racer Rating of 3,187, placing her 808th among active drivers on a scale where the world's elite sit between 10,000 and 11,500. In the 2026 season, she has competed in three rounds without a win or podium, standing 84th in the points. She remains an active competitor in the series, continuing to add to a career already defined by pioneering achievements for women in motorsport.[2]
