Meindert van Buuren is a retired Dutch professional driver who raced single-seaters in open-wheel championships. He competed in Formula Renault Eurocup and Formula V8 3.5 between 2011 and 2015, spending his most significant time with Pons Racing. He held an FIA Silver grade, a classification that sits below the full-professional Gold and Platinum grades in endurance and sportscar racing.[1]
Van Buuren made 32 starts across four seasons. He began in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2011 and 2012 with Manor MP Motorsport, then moved to Formula V8 3.5 with Lotus and Pons Racing from 2014 to 2015. His final season saw him finish 15th in the Formula V8 3.5 championship standings across six rounds.[2]
He raced regularly against Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato, both significantly stronger drivers; he typically finished behind them. Van Buuren did finish ahead of Pierre Gasly three times and of Rowland once, though Gasly and Rowland both went on to establish themselves as elite professionals in international racing. The field in both championships mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals, and van Buuren held a middle position within it.
