Laurent Groppi is a professional driver who raced in Formula Renault Eurocup, competing in a single-class international championship that runs amateurs and semi-professionals alongside graded professionals in the same field. He drove for Graff Racing, the team that fielded him across his indexed racing career.[1]
His record in the series spans a single season in 2006, when he took two wins and four podiums from six starts to finish sixth in the championship standings. He regularly finished ahead of Henkie Waldschmidt, a professional with 24 Formula Renault Eurocup starts, and beat Bertrand Baguette, now an established professional and two-time champion in later series including the 2009 Formula V8 3.5 and 2022 Super GT GT500. He also finished ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Brendon Hartley on four occasions each; Mortara later became an elite professional and 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series champion, while Hartley won the 2007 Formula Renault Eurocup title that season and went on to major success in prototype racing and Formula 1.[2]
