🇨🇭 Joël Camathias

Camathias is a Swiss professional driver who raced graded Silver in GT and endurance series across two decades. He competed primarily in the FIA GT Championship between 2001 and 2008, piloting shared Ferraris for BMS Scuderia Italia, and later in the WEC from 2012 to 2016 with KCMG, the team that won the LMP2 class at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours. His rating of 4,260 places him in the professional band; he sits below the full-professional grades but above entry-level standing.[1]

Camathias took five podiums across his career, all of them in the WEC between 2012 and 2016. His best championship result came in the 2016 WEC season, when he finished fifth in the overall standings. He also competed in International Formula 3000 in 2001 with 12 starts and made a single appearance in the 24H Series in 2018. Early in his career he raced in single-seaters, taking part in the American Champ Car series in 2003, and won the GT2 class of the 2006 Le Mans Series alongside Marc Lieb. His indexed record spans nine seasons from 2001 to 2020.[2]

In the FIA GT Championship, Camathias usually finished behind Fabrizio Gollin, the 2004 FIA GT champion who remained a regular opponent through the mid-2000s, though he was closely matched with Andrea Piccini, a Gold-graded professional and Formula 3 driver. His most notable scalp came against Mark Webber, the 2016 WEC LMP1 champion and Formula 1 race winner with 217 Grand Prix starts, whom he finished ahead of once in shared-car racing.
