In 2006, Bonetti completed a full season of Formula V8 3.5 with nine starts and finished 30th in the championship standings. His record against the regulars he encountered was closely matched with Milos Pavlovic, an entry-level professional, while he usually finished behind Andy Soucek, an established professional who had raced in the GP2 Series. Bonetti beat the 2010 GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado once across their meetings and Jerome d'Ambrosio, a driver later active in Formula E and Formula 1, three times.[2]
