Yamano was a professional endurance racing driver in Japan's Super GT championship, where he raced a GT300-specification car for Team Mach and other entries between 2008 and 2016. He holds an FIA Bronze grading, the amateur classification within GT and endurance racing, and competed in a multiclass field that mixed amateurs with graded professionals in shared-driver endurance races.[1]
Across nine seasons on record Yamano started 26 times in Super GT's GT300 class and took a single podium finish. His best championship result came in 2016, when he scored points to finish tenth in the standings over seven rounds. He raced most regularly for Team Mach, which fielded him in eleven of his starts; the team won twice in the index and counted an established professional in Iori Kimura among its drivers.[2]
Yamano raced consistently against established professionals throughout his time in Super GT. He finished behind FIA Silver driver Nobuteru Taniguchi, a three-time GT300 champion, in their regular meetings. He was outpaced by Kazuki Hoshino, a 2010 GT300 champion who had over a hundred Super GT starts. He did finish ahead of established professionals Kenta Yamashita and Katsumasa Chiyo on single occasions, Yamashita going on to win the GT500 championship in 2024.
