Greg Franchi is a professional driver from Belgium who competed in single-seater racing between 2004 and 2006, primarily for Prema Powerteam. His career spanned two seasons in Formula 3 Euro Series and one season in Formula V8 3.5, accumulating 40 starts across both series. He scored a single podium finish in Formula V8 3.5 and averaged a 15th-place finish across all classified races. His Racer Rating of 4,136 places him at the professional level; this denotes a driver capable of competing in national championship front-runners or strong feeder series, consistently beating semi-professional fields.[1]
Franchi raced regularly against internationally competitive drivers during his period in Formula 3 Euro Series, where he contested 27 rounds with the factory Prema team. He shared substantial portions of his career with future Formula 1 champions Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, as well as FIA Platinum-graded professionals including Franck Perera, Marco Bonanomi, Giedo Van Der Garde, and Loïc Duval. Against this elite company, Franchi finished behind these rivals in the vast majority of their shared races; he was outscored by Perera 23 times to 2 and by Bonanomi 19 times to 5. Nevertheless, he achieved isolated wins against exceptional drivers, notably beating Hamilton and Rosberg once each and Vettel on four occasions.[2]
Following his brief stint in Formula V8 3.5 in 2006, where he scored his sole podium, Franchi's racing career concluded. He retired with no championship titles to his name and no race victories across his 40 starts in top-tier single-seater competition.
