Morgan Burkhard is an entry-level professional, graded FIA Silver, who combines multiclass endurance racing with a shared car and solo sprint racing in national and club championships in the United States. His main program is with CSM in the IMSA Pilot Challenge, where he races the GS class in GT4-level production-based sports cars and the TCR class in TCR touring cars, and with the same team in the solo IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge's GSX class, also GT4 machinery. Away from CSM he races SCCA Majors and Regionals, campaigning a Spec Racer Ford in the SRF3 class alongside production-based and first-generation Mazda Miata entries.[1]
Burkhard's record at club level has been strong, with wins and podiums across both SCCA Regionals and SCCA Majors from 2022 through 2025, and a brief run in the SCCA Runoffs as well. That form carried into his step up with CSM, where podiums have come less often across a long run of IMSA Pilot Challenge starts since 2024, consistent with a shared-car endurance format. The solo IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge has gone better in its first season on record, with a win and three podiums from four starts so far in 2026, and Burkhard was credited with setting the pace in the Pilot Challenge field that January.[2]
Burkhard's most frequent rivals in the Pilot Challenge are Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor, both entry-level professionals graded FIA Silver and both champions of the 2024 IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR class; against both he has run closely matched. He has also finished ahead, on each occasion once, of Sammy Smith, an established professional and multiple ARCA Menards East champion with a long NASCAR Xfinity record, and Patrick Gallagher, an established professional and the 2017 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup champion. CSM, his main team, has also fielded professional driver Phil Fayer.
