Austin Krainz is a professional racing driver competing in national endurance and club racing series in a shared-car and solo format. He races for AutoTechnic Racing in IMSA Pilot Challenge, a multiclass endurance series, piloting a BMW M4 GT4 in the GS class alongside co-drivers; he also competes in GT4 America's Am and Pro-Am classes as a shared-car driver, and in PCA Club Racing in solo sprint rounds. He holds an FIA Silver grade, positioning him below the full-professional Platinum and Gold ranks.[1]
Krainz has raced for five seasons from 2021 to the present across three national championships. In PCA Club Racing he has taken three wins and four podiums from nine starts in Porsches across the GTB1 and GTD2 classes. His GT4 America record spans two seasons with RS1, a competitive team; he secured one win and five podiums from eighteen starts in shared cars. In IMSA Pilot Challenge, his primary series since 2024, he has added three podiums from twenty-one starts with AutoTechnic Racing, establishing himself as a regular on that grid.[2]
Krainz races against a field of peers and stronger drivers. Michael Cooper, a fellow Silver-graded professional and 2017 NASA 944 Spec champion, is a frequent opponent with whom Krainz is closely matched. Luca Mars, a Silver-graded professional who won the 2024 IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge GSX and the 2025 Pilot Challenge GS championship, is another regular rival; Mars typically finishes ahead of him. He has finished ahead of Corey Heim, an established professional and three-time consecutive NASCAR Truck champion, and of Bubba Wallace, an established professional with over three hundred NASCAR Cup starts.
