Guy Mairesse was a French driver who competed in the early years of the Formula 1 World Championship. He made three starts in 1950 and 1951, all at the wheel of a Talbot-Lago for the marque's works team. His record yielded no wins, podiums, or championship points. His average finishing position across classified starts was eleventh, a respectable showing given the competitive field of the era and the machinery available to him.[1]
Mairesse's brief single-seater career placed him among drivers of modest standing in what was still the formative period of international racing. In one race he finished ahead of Consalvo Sanesi, a driver of considerably stronger credentials. The Talbot-Lago team for which he drove was never competitive at the highest level, and Mairesse's tenure coincided with a period when the French marque was being superseded by faster machinery from other constructors. His last outing came in 1951, after which he stepped away from Formula 1.[2]
