Niclas Schönström was a professional racing driver who competed in single-seater sprint racing. His indexed career consists of three starts in Formula 3 Macau during 1986, driving for Picko Troberg Racing in a mixed amateur and professional field.[1]
Schönström's sole season came in 1986, the year the team fielded him for all three rounds at Macau. The field included established professionals bound for or already in international single-seaters, among them Jean Alesi and Yannick Dalmas, both of whom went on to race Formula 1. Against this competition, Schönström finished ahead of Stefano Modena, the 1987 International Formula 3000 champion, and Paul Belmondo, who would contest forty-five rounds of International Formula 3000; these isolated results represent his most notable performances on record. He typically ran behind Alesi and Dalmas in head-to-head racing at the same events.[2]
