Petru Umbrärescu is a professional driver competing in international multiclass sports car racing, where cars are shared between two or more drivers and the field runs from amateurs up through graded professionals on the same track. He races in the LMGT3 class, driving a GT3 car for Akkodis ASP Team, a team that has also fielded Kelvin van der Linde among its drivers.[1]
Umbrärescu's record runs across two seasons of WEC, 2025 and 2026, all with Akkodis ASP Team, and shows two wins and two podiums from his starts. The 2026 season is still underway; through five rounds raced so far he sits eleventh in the championship standings.[2]
LMGT3 puts him regularly against Jonny Edgar, FIA Silver-graded and champion of the 2020 ADAC Formula 4 title and the 2024 European Le Mans Series LMP2 class, and Alessio Rovera, FIA Platinum-graded and champion of the 2021 WEC LMGTE Am class and the 2024 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro/Am class; against both he runs closely matched.
