Pierre Chauvet was a professional single-seater driver who raced in International Formula 3000, a mixed-grade championship that ran from 1985 to 1988. He drove for Jordan across his career, competing against a field that included amateurs, semi-professionals and established professionals in the same races.[1]
Chauvet made 12 starts across three seasons in Formula 3000. He finished 26th in the final championship standings in 1988, the only year for which a finishing position is recorded in his indexed racing. His results against the established professionals he met regularly, including Pierre-Henri Raphanel and Pierluigi Martini, the latter a former Formula 1 driver, typically saw him outpaced. He did finish ahead of John Jones and Michel Ferté, both of whom had considerably more experience in the series, in single instances. Jordan itself was an established operation in the championship, one of the stronger entrants, and would go on to field drivers including Ralf Schumacher among the forty it ran across its history.[2]
