Russell McDonough was an entry-level professional racing in the IMSA Pilot Challenge, a multiclass endurance series run across the United States in which TCR touring cars share the grid with faster prototypes and GT machinery. He competed for eEuroparts.com ROWE Racing in the TCR class during the 2019 season.[1]
McDonough made nine starts across the full 2019 campaign and took one podium finish, placing ninth in the championship standings. He regularly raced against professionals graded with the FIA's Silver licence, including Stephen Simpson, whom he usually finished ahead of, and Michael Lewis, a three-time IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR champion who typically finished ahead of him. McDonough also beat Silver-graded drivers Trenton Estep and Remo Ruscitti in single instances during the season.[2]
