🇧🇪 Stéphane de Groodt

Stéphane de Groodt is a retired Belgian driver who raced in single-class championships at established professional level. His career spanned from 1995 to 2001 and comprised four starts across two series: International Formula 3000, a solo sprint championship, and the FIA GT Championship, an endurance series in which cars are shared between drivers. He drove for Vortex Motorsport in Formula 3000 and raced in the FIA GT field as an independent entrant.[1]

His indexed record shows two starts in International Formula 3000 in 1995 and two starts in the FIA GT Championship between 1997 and 2001, finishing 32nd in the FIA GT championship standings in his final season. He finished ahead of Eric van de Poele once and beat Julian Bailey, the 2000 FIA GT Champion, in one meeting. His most frequent competitors were Allan McNish and Christophe Tinseau, both established professionals; he typically finished behind them.[2]

De Groodt raced in fields that mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals and former champions. He occupied a mid-field position among this company, occasionally ahead of established drivers but more often finishing behind the regulars he shared grids with.
