Terry Cannon was an entry-level professional racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, a national single-class championship mixing amateur and professional drivers on oval tracks. His racing career on record spans five starts across 1982 to 1987 with no wins or podium finishes.[1]
Cannon finished 41st in the 1987 NASCAR Xfinity points standings in his final season. His record against the field was largely mid-to-back-of-pack; he regularly finished behind professionals Dale Arnold Jarrett and Ronnie Silver, both established competitors with over 180 starts each in the series. He did finish ahead of Rob Moroso, who would go on to win the 1989 NASCAR Xfinity championship, and ahead of Mark Martin, a Bronze-graded professional who accumulated 236 Xfinity starts across a lengthy career.[2]
