Christopher Zanella is a Swiss racing driver who competed in single-seater championships across five seasons from 2008 to 2013. Graded FIA Silver, he raced primarily in Formula 3 Euro Series and Formula V8 3.5, with a spell in Formula Renault Eurocup early in his career. His main team was Motopark Academy, which fielded him for 19 of his 35 career starts.[1]
Zanella took two podiums across his indexed record: one in Formula 3 Euro Series in 2009 and 2010, and another in Formula V8 3.5 in 2013, where he finished 15th in the final championship standings. He spent most of his racing against established professionals and graded drivers. Roberto Merhi, the 2011 Formula 3 Euro Series champion, was a regular opponent whom Zanella typically finished behind. He raced frequently against Valtteri Bottas, a Platinum-graded driver who won the 2008 Formula Renault Eurocup and went on to a career in Formula 1, and usually finished lower in the order. Zanella finished ahead of Carlos Sainz, the 2014 Formula V8 3.5 champion, twice across their meetings, and once ahead of Edoardo Mortara, the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series champion, in their shared racing.[2]
