Vandone made six starts in International Formula 3000 across 1991 and 1992, finishing 23rd in the championship standings in his final year. He finished ahead of Laurent Aïello twice and beat established professional Olivier Panis, who went on to race 158 Grands Prix, on at least one occasion. Against his most frequent opposition, Vandone proved closely matched with Aïello but typically finished behind Paul Stewart, a competitor who had substantially more Formula 3000 experience.[2]
