🇫🇷 Laurent Aïello

Laurent Aïello was an established professional single-seater racer who competed in International Formula 3000 and Formula 3 Macau between 1990 and 1992. He drove for Pacific in the majority of his starts, a team that fielded established professional talent and won multiple races during his period in the series.[1]

Aïello made 22 starts across two championships. He took two podium finishes, one in Formula 3 Macau in 1990 and one in International Formula 3000, where he raced for three seasons and finished 13th in the 1992 championship standings. His 1991 and 1992 campaigns in International Formula 3000 placed him in grids that mixed amateur and semi-professional competitors with graded professionals; he was closely matched against regular opponents including Andrea Montermini, a professional who went on to race Formula 1 and international GT racing, and Paul Stewart, an established professional in the same series. He finished ahead of Allan McNish, an established professional who raced Formula 1 and endurance championships, on two occasions, and ahead of David Coulthard once; Coulthard later became a Formula 1 regular with 247 starts in the category.[2]
