🇩🇪 Hans-Joachim Stuck

Hans-Joachim Stuck is a retired German racing driver who competed as an established professional across Formula 1, FIA GT endurance racing, and national-level German sportscar series. He holds an FIA Bronze grading, the amateur classification within endurance racing. His primary team was March, for which he made 34 of his 93 career starts.[1]

Stuck's racing spanned from 1974 to 2011, encompassing six seasons in Formula 1 between 1974 and 1979 with 77 starts and two podium finishes, nine starts in the FIA GT Championship from 1997 to 2004, and seven starts in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie endurance races from 2010 to 2011, where he took three podiums in the SP 9 GT3 class. His career total across the indexed series is five podiums from 93 starts. Though his Formula 1 record fell short of establishing him as a front-runner in that era, he regularly competed against established professionals; he finished behind Jody Scheckter, the 1979 Formula 1 champion, in their common races, and behind John Watson, a 152-start Formula 1 veteran, though he did finish ahead of elite professional Carlos Reutemann on six occasions and ahead of Riccardo Patrese, a 257-start Formula 1 driver, three times. His endurance racing, particularly his work with Porsche, earned him recognition beyond these indexed championships and remains the principal record by which his career is remembered.[2]
