Gregor Foitek was a Swiss racing driver who won the 1986 Swiss Formula 3 Championship before attempting a single season in Formula 1. In 1990, he drove for Onyx across seven rounds without scoring championship points or finishing on the podium, averaging 11th place across his classified results. Despite the lack of points, he demonstrated occasional competitiveness against the field; he finished ahead of former champions and established professionals including Ayrton Senna, Michele Alboreto, and Nicola Larini in individual races, though these were isolated results rather than sustained patterns of performance.[1]
Onyx was a non-competitive team that season, fielding four drivers but recording no race wins across its entire tenure in the database; Foitek's performances reflected the equipment available to him rather than standing apart from his more successful teammates. His Formula 1 career proved to be brief and unrewarding. He later made two starts in CART in 1992 before stepping away from professional motorsport. Foitek is now retired from racing.[2]
