Eddie Cheever Jr. is an American former racing driver who competed across multiple categories of professional motorsport. His career spanned several decades, beginning in Formula One from 1978 to 1989 before transitioning to American open-wheel racing. Cheever competed in CART between 1986 and 1995, followed by IndyCar competition from 1996 to 2006. Among his notable achievements in American open-wheel racing was victory in the Indianapolis 500 in 1998 with Team Cheever.[1]

Cheever's final racing activities took place in the IndyCar series during 2006, when he made eight starts without securing wins or podium finishes, completing his career with a twentieth-place overall finish in that season. His transition into motorsport executive roles followed his retirement from active competition, allowing him to remain involved in the sport beyond his driving career.[2]
