John Andretti was an established professional competing in single-seater and stock car racing across North America. He raced primarily in NASCAR Xfinity between 1998 and 2007 for Braun Racing, with 37 starts, the vast majority on ovals. He also competed in IndyCar between 2007 and 2011, making 10 starts exclusively on oval tracks. His racing took place in a mixed field of amateur, semi-professional and graded professionals in both series.[1]

Andretti's career ran seven seasons with 47 starts across indexed racing. In NASCAR Xfinity he raced against a field including established professionals such as Kevin Harvick, a two-time series champion with hundreds of starts across multiple categories, and Denny Hamlin, who would become an elite professional over a career spanning Cup, Xfinity and Truck series racing. Andretti finished ahead of Hamlin on nine occasions and beat Tony Stewart, a former IndyCar champion, five times during their overlapping entries. His primary team, ppc Racing, fielded him for 35 of his 47 starts and was the strongest outfit in its field during that period, operating with multiple drivers while Andretti served as its highest-rated entry.[2]
