Hironobu Shimizu is an entry-level professional racing in Super GT, Japan's national multiclass endurance championship. He drives a GT300-class car, a mix of FIA GT3 machinery and Japanese-built specials, for Tomei Sports; the class races alongside the faster GT500 cars in a series that fields established professionals and graded drivers alongside semi-professional and amateur entrants.[1]
His first indexed season came in 2025, with three starts across the championship. He finished 24th in the standings. In that limited racing he beat the 2025 Super Formula Lights champion Yuto Nomura once and the FIA Gold-graded Igor Fraga, a driver with substantial experience in Super GT, Formula 3 and Super Formula Lights, once each. Against his regular opponents he has finished behind both Nomura and Iori Kimura, an established professional and 2023 Super Formula Lights champion who has raced Super Formula.[2]
