🇩🇪 Ioannis Smyrlis

Ioannis Smyrlis is a competitive amateur racing in national multiclass endurance championships at the Nürburgring. He drives for Smyrlis Racing, his own team, in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and the Nürburgring 24 Hours. His machinery has included Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the Cup 2 class and near-standard production cars in various classes across both series.[1]

Across six seasons from 2016 to 2025, Smyrlis has taken three wins and three podiums from 11 starts. Two of those wins came in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where he has completed three starts and finished on the podium in both races entered. In the Langstrecken-Serie proper he has raced eight times for one win and one other podium. His most recent outing was the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours, where he won.[2]

Smyrlis races a field that includes competitive amateurs and club-level drivers as regulars and graded professionals as occasional competitors. He typically finishes behind Carsten Palluth, a competitive amateur regular in the Langstrecken-Serie, and runs closely matched with club driver Thomas Bolz. His record includes single wins over elite professional Edoardo Mortara, the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series champion with 91 Formula E starts, and established professional Robin Frijns, who won the 2021 WEC LMP2 title and has 99 Formula E appearances to his credit.
