Johannes Van Overbeek is an entry-level professional competing in national multiclass endurance racing, primarily in IMSA WeatherTech and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. Graded FIA Platinum, he drives prototypes and Lamborghini Huracáns in fields that mix amateurs with graded professionals. His main tenure has been with Extreme Speed Motorsports, though he has also raced for Tequila Patron ESM, Flying Lizard Motorsports, and CHR.[1]
Van Overbeek's record spans from 2014 to the present across 57 starts. In IMSA WeatherTech he took three wins and four podiums across 30 entries between 2014 and 2018 for Tequila Patron ESM. He raced the World Endurance Championship in 2014 and 2015 with Extreme Speed Motorsports, competing in 14 starts and finishing 22nd in the 2016 WEC championship standings. More recently, he returned to racing in 2023 with a move to Lamborghini Super Trofeo machinery; in the North American series he took one win and three podiums from 10 starts with Flying Lizard Motorsports, and made two additional starts at the World Final. He has one outing on record in the Porsche Endurance Challenge North America in 2025.[2]
Van Overbeek has consistently raced against experienced professionals in shared-car endurance fields. Ryan Dalziel and Scott Sharp, both FIA Platinum drivers with deep IMSA and WEC experience, have been regular opponents and remain closely matched with him. In longer-distance championships he has finished ahead of Christian Fittipaldi, the 1991 International Formula 3000 champion and 2014 IMSA WeatherTech title winner, on four occasions, and once bested Sébastien Buemi, five-time WEC champion and multiple Formula E winner.
