🇩🇪 Lucas Roy

Lucas Roy, a German driver now retired from racing, competed in solo, single-class formula racing in which one driver races each car, in fields that ran from amateur and semi-professional entrants up to graded professionals. The bulk of his career was spent with Van Amersfoort Racing, a team that has also fielded Max Verstappen among its many drivers. Roy is rated as an entry-level professional on Racer DB's current scale.[1]

He began in British F4 with Carlin in 2017. He moved to Van Amersfoort Racing for 2018 and 2019, splitting his time between ADAC Formula 4 and Italian F4, where his only podium of record came; he finished fourteenth in the Italian F4 standings in 2019, his most recent season, in a sixteen-round championship. He also spent 2019 racing in the Formula Renault Eurocup for M2 Competition.[2]

The German and Italian F4 fields he raced in included Gianluca Petecof, an FIA Gold-graded driver who went on to race in Stock Car Pro Series, and Ido Cohen, who has also raced in Formula 3; against both, Roy was a regular opponent who usually finished behind. His record also shows five finishes ahead of Liam Lawson, now an elite professional with Formula 2 and Formula 1 starts, and one finish ahead of Oscar Piastri, the 2021 Formula 2 champion and FIA Platinum-graded driver who has since raced in Formula 1.
