Matteo Pellegrini was a professional single-seater racing driver whose indexed career consists of five starts in the 2005 Formula V8 3.5 championship with RC Motorsport. He did not win a championship.[1]
His sole season in the series, run in 2005, saw him finish 26th in the championship standings. The field included established professionals graded by the FIA as well as amateur and semi-professional entrants. Pellegrini raced most often against Simon Pagenaud and Christian Montanari, both of whom regularly finished ahead of him; Pagenaud would go on to become an IndyCar champion and established professional, while Montanari competed across Formula 3 and GT racing at a professional level. On two occasions Pellegrini finished ahead of drivers who would establish themselves at a higher level; he beat Pastor Maldonado, later a Formula 1 driver and 2010 GP2 Series champion, in one meeting, and finished ahead of Nicolas Prost, who would race in Formula E and the World Endurance Championship, once during the season.[2]
