Maurizio Basso is a professional racing driver whose indexed career consists of three starts in the FIA GT Championship between 2007 and 2009. He raced for JMB Racing in a shared-drive endurance format, competing in a field that mixed amateur, semi-professional and graded professional drivers.[1]
His three starts yielded no wins or podiums. He finished 29th in the championship standings in 2009, his final season of racing. Against the established professionals he met regularly, Michael Bartels, a three-time FIA GT champion, and Bert Longin, a FIA Bronze graded driver with 80 starts in the series, Basso typically finished behind them. He finished ahead of Ho-Pin Tung, an FIA Gold driver and 2018 WEC LMP2 champion, once, and ahead of Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 Formula 1 world champion, once.[2]
