Kurt Mollekens is an established professional who raced single-seaters and endurance sportscars across 13 seasons from 1995 to 2009. He competed in International Formula 3000 for KTR, in Formula 3 Macau, and in the FIA GT Championship for PK Carsport, where he shared cars in a field mixing amateurs with graded professionals.[1]
Mollekens took two podiums in Formula 3000 across 18 starts and scored his sole win in the FIA GT Championship, where he added three further podiums from 15 starts. His most recent racing came in 2009 in that championship, when he took a win and a podium from a single round and finished 13th in the season standings. Across all series, he accumulated six podiums from 35 starts.[2]
In the FIA GT Championship, where he raced most regularly, Mollekens was closely matched with Jamie Davies and Boris Derichebourg, both established or professional drivers who appeared frequently in the same field. He finished ahead of Marc Gene twice and beat Anthony Davidson once, both established professionals with extensive records at higher levels. His career in Formula 3000 came during the mid-to-late 1990s with KTR, a team that fielded 22 drivers across its history and went on to employ Alexander Albon.
