Paul Daniels is a semi-professional racing driver whose career on record consists of a single season in the 2012 World Endurance Championship, where he competed in the LMGTE Am class for JWA-Avila. His Racer Rating of 3,547 places him in the semi-professional band, the level of drivers who win in pro-am and one-make racing and run mid-pack among full professionals. Across seven WEC starts that season, Daniels finished without a podium, recording an average finishing position of 5.9th. His most competitive outings came against a peer group of FIA-graded drivers; he finished ahead of Michele Rugolo, an FIA Silver driver, once, and bested Niclas Jönsson, another FIA Silver graded driver, on one occasion. Against the stronger amateurs in the field, however, his record ran consistently behind them; he finished outside the top six in head-to-head competition against Pascal Gibon (FIA Bronze), Christophe Bourret (FIA Bronze), Christian Ried (a three-time WEC LMGTE Am champion), and Paolo Ruberti (FIA Gold and 2012 WEC LMGTE Am champion), never finishing ahead of any of them across their shared races.[1]
Daniels' brief WEC campaign marked the entirety of his documented racing record. The team he drove for, JWA-Avila, recorded no wins during his tenure and has not otherwise produced drivers of the calibre Daniels faced in that season. With his career having ended in 2012, Daniels remains retired from racing and does not currently compete.[2]
