🇳🇱 Pieter Schothorst

Pieter Schothorst is a professional driver rated FIA Silver, competing in multiclass and single-class endurance racing and single-seater championships across Europe. His primary recent work has been with Attempto Racing in GT World Challenge Europe, where he raced GT3 cars in a shared-driver format between 2019 and 2022. His earlier career included a season in Formula Renault Eurocup with Josef Kaufmann Racing in 2011 and 2012, and brief appearances in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and the 24H Series.[1]

Schothorst's racing record spans six seasons from 2011 to his retirement in 2022, with 37 starts across five championships and a single podium finish in GT World Challenge Europe. His most substantial indexed campaigns came in Formula Renault Eurocup, where he made 22 starts over two seasons, and in GT World Challenge Europe, where he completed 12 starts. He finished 28th in the 2017 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie standings. The 2016 Renault Sport Trophy title he won falls outside the indexed record shown here.[2]

His racing placed him regularly against established professionals. He was a frequent competitor against Alex Riberas, an FIA Gold-graded driver who has contested IMSA WeatherTech, Formula Renault Eurocup and the World Endurance Championship, and Paul-Loup Chatin, another FIA Gold professional and 2023 IMSA WeatherTech LMP2 champion. In both pairings Schothorst typically finished behind them. He finished ahead of Pierre Gasly and Oliver Rowland, both elite professionals and Formula Renault Eurocup graduates, on single occasions; Gasly won the 2013 Formula Renault Eurocup and the 2016 GP2 Series before reaching Formula 1, while Rowland won the 2015 Formula V8 3.5 and the 2025 Formula E championship.
