Shinichi Yamaji was a professional driver who raced in Super GT, a national multiclass endurance championship run in Japan. He drove GT300-class cars, a category running FIA GT3 machinery and Japanese-built specials alongside each other, for Team Taisan Cinecitta. His career on record spans 2008 to 2011; he retired with 14 starts and a rating of 4,133.[1]
Yamaji took two podiums across four seasons of Super GT racing. He finished 16th in the championship standings in 2011, his final year in the series. In a field mixing amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals, he was closely matched with Tomonobu Fujii, an FIA Gold-graded driver who has raced internationally in the World Endurance Championship and Asian Le Mans Series. He usually finished behind Kazuki Hoshino, the 2010 GT300 champion. He beat established professionals including Yuhi Sekiguchi, a 2021 Super GT champion and Super Formula regular, and Hiroaki Ishiura, an FIA Platinum-graded driver.[2]
