Thomas Wieringa was an entry-level professional competing in a national single-class championship. He raced for Eurosports Racing in the Star Mazda Championship during the 2006 season, his only indexed campaign.[1]
Wieringa started six races across the full Star Mazda season and finished twenty-third in the championship standings. He raced in a field that mixed amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals. His regular opponents included the championship winner Adrian Carrio and Ryan Justice, a driver with a long record in the series; Wieringa typically finished behind both. He recorded finishes ahead of John Pew, an established professional who went on to race in IMSA and continued in Star Mazda long after, and Michael Guasch, another competitor in the series.[2]
