Aleksey Basov is a retired Russian racing driver who competed in the World Endurance Championship for SMP Racing across the 2014 and 2015 seasons. His career consisted of nine starts in one of professional motorsport's strongest endurance series, which anchors itself with former and active Formula 1 drivers. Basov finished on the podium in six of those nine races, accruing three wins, and averaged a finishing position of P2.9 across all classified starts.[1]

Basov's record against his most frequent rivals reveals a driver capable of competing at a professional level in a demanding category. He finished ahead of Patrick Long, an FIA Platinum-graded driver, in six of eight shared races and also beat Pedro Lamy and Earl Bamber, both Platinum-graded professionals, across multiple outings. Against Silver and Bronze-graded champions such as Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo, and Marco Seefried, he posted losing head-to-head records, though he won individual races against them. His Racer Rating of 3,560 places him in the upper band of semi-professional and lower professional drivers, the tier that includes productive endurance programme members.[2]

SMP Racing, the Russian outfit that employed Basov, was establishing itself as a competitive force during his tenure; the team achieved its first victory at Le Mans in 2015, the year Basov finished fourth in the championship with three wins and six podiums across eight rounds. His career ended after 2015.
