Ed Brown was a professional endurance racing driver competing in multiclass prototypes. Between 2014 and 2017, he drove LMP2 and P-class machinery across two major international series: the IMSA WeatherTech Championship in the United States and the World Endurance Championship. He was graded FIA Bronze, the amateur category within endurance racing, and raced primarily for Extreme Speed Motorsports.[1]
Brown completed 33 starts across both series, taking one win in IMSA WeatherTech and a second podium finish in WEC. His strongest result came in the prototype categories where he competed against graded professionals and established semi-professional drivers. His single IMSA victory and consistency in endurance racing's shared-car format showed capability at this level, though his 2016 WEC campaign, his final season, yielded a mid-field championship position of 22nd in the LMP2 standings across six rounds.[2]
He raced regularly against Ryan Dalziel and Scott Sharp, both FIA Platinum-graded professionals with extensive endurance and open-wheel experience, and held his own in those matchups. Brown also finished ahead of Sébastien Buemi, a four-time WEC champion and Formula E title winner, on at least one occasion. Extreme Speed Motorsports, the team that fielded him for the majority of his indexed career, has five race wins on record and has developed drivers including established professional Antonio Giovinazzi.
