Hunter Abbott is a Bronze-graded driver who raced in national touring car and endurance championships across five seasons from 2015 to 2021. He spent two seasons in the British Touring Car Championship with Power Maxed Racing, then moved to endurance racing in Germany and the United Kingdom, driving GT3 and BMW Cup machinery for Walkenhorst Motorsport and 2 Seas Motorsport.[1]
His career record across 70 starts yielded a single win and two podiums. The win came in the 2021 British GT Championship at Silverstone, where he shared a GT3 car with a co-driver in the multiclass endurance field. In the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a 15-class endurance grid mixing amateurs with graded professionals, he took one podium across his 11 starts in Cup 5 and SP 9 Pro machinery and finished 11th in the championship standings in his final season there in 2018. His two BTCC campaigns yielded no wins or podiums from 58 starts in a field of single-seater touring cars.[2]
Abbott raced regularly against established professionals in touring cars and endurance racing. He finished behind Tom Ingram, a two-time BTCC champion and FIA Gold-graded driver, in most of their BTCC meetings, and also trailed Adam Morgan, an FIA Silver professional, in the same series. His podium finishes included occasions ahead of Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell, both Platinum-graded drivers with titles in major international endurance series including the WEC and IMSA WeatherTech championships.
