🇯🇵 Sena Sakaguchi

Sena Sakaguchi is a professional-level sportscar driver, rated 6,172, who competes primarily in Super GT. The FIA categorises him as Silver; a professional rating within GT and endurance racing that typically denotes a young or early-career driver with full professional standing. Across nine seasons of competition from 2018 onward, Sakaguchi has started 63 times in three series, with a single win and three podiums to his name. His average finishing position of P14.5 reflects his status as a mid-field regular in fields populated by much stronger drivers.[1]

Sakaguchi's primary home is Super GT, where he has completed 56 starts for TGR Team Wedssport Bandoh since 2019 and secured his sole career victory. The series has exposed a stark head-to-head record: against the grid's elite, Sakaguchi has lost heavily. He finished behind Sho Tsuboi (a three-time Super GT champion) in 49 of 60 shared races; behind Tadasuke Makino (2020 and 2025 Super GT champion) in 47 of 58; and behind Naoki Yamamoto (three-time Super GT champion) in nearly all encounters. His record against Tomoki Nojiri, the 2024 Super Formula champion, shows similar imbalance: 39 finishes behind to 18 ahead across 57 shared races. Nirei Fukuzumi, a Gold-graded professional, is the one peer against whom Sakaguchi holds a winning head-to-head mark of 25 ahead to 34 behind. He did beat Alex Palou, the four-time IndyCar champion, on four separate occasions, though this reflects the rare instances when a world-class driver from another series appeared in his field rather than a pattern.[2]

A brief foray into Super Formula in 2024 and 2025, his first serious exposure to single-seaters at the top level, yielded no points across six starts; single-seater racing has not played to his strengths. As of early 2026, Sakaguchi remains active in Super GT while preparing for a Corvette Z06 GT3.R debut in Japan Cup competition, continuing his focus on sportscar racing where his Silver professional status sits.
