Brian Naylor was a British racing driver who competed in Formula 1 between 1957 and 1961, accumulating eight championship starts without scoring points. He drove for the independent JBW team, which fielded him in five of those entries. His career spanned five seasons at a time when the grid remained open to privateers, though his results did not bring success at that level; he averaged a finish of 13th place across his classified starts.[1]
Naylor showed occasional competitive moments against stronger opposition. He finished ahead of Jim Clark, the two-time world champion, once during his tenure, and also outran Carel Godin de Beaufort and Masten Gregory on single occasions. These isolated results were exceptional within a career otherwise marked by difficulty matching the pace of established drivers in the era. His final Formula 1 appearance came in 1961, after which he retired from racing.[2]
