Bob Negron competed in single-seater racing for two seasons, racing in the Star Mazda Championship between 2002 and 2003. His Racer Rating of 3,627 places him in the semi-professional tier; this describes a driver capable of competing among paid professionals but typically finishing mid-pack in those fields. Negron made five starts across the championship with no wins or podium finishes, averaging a 20th-place result.[1]
Negron's record against the main field shows the competitive level he faced. He finished consistently behind the series champion Moses Smith across five shared races, and was outpaced by higher-rated rivals including Mike Anderson and John Olsen in the majority of their meetings. Against the weaker end of the field, his record was more mixed; he outfinished semi-professional drivers Brian McAtee and Dan Tomlin Jr. more often than not. Notably, Negron beat stronger drivers including 2003 champion Luis Schiavo once and front-running professional Ryan Justice twice, though these were isolated results rather than sustained patterns.
Negron's racing career ended in 2003. His brief tenure in Star Mazda saw him consistently outpaced by the series' frontrunners and unable to mount a sustained challenge in the field. He has not raced since that year.
