Daniel Abt is an established professional and FIA Gold-graded driver who raced single-seaters and sports cars across ten seasons from 2010 to 2019. He won the 2012 GP3 Series championship with Lotus GP and spent six years competing in Formula E with NIO 333 FE Team, taking two wins and ten podiums across 57 starts in the series.[1]
His breakthrough came early; he claimed the GP3 title in his first indexed season at that level, finishing ahead of a competitive field that mixed amateurs with graded professionals. He moved to Formula E in 2014 and remained there until 2019, his most sustained series. In GP2 Series he made 35 starts without winning; he also raced Formula 3 variants, including the Euro Series and a single Macau outing, and had brief spells in Formula V8 3.5 and endurance racing through WEC in 2015, where he finished twelfth in the season championship. Four wins and 21 podiums across 153 career starts place him as a mid-field competitor in the single-seater and junior categories he occupied.[2]
The drivers he raced most often in Formula E were closely matched with him; Mitch Evans, an elite professional with Platinum credentials, finished roughly level with him across their meetings, whilst Sam Bird, a Platinum-graded professional and multiple champion in WEC, typically finished ahead. Against stronger company, Abt beat Pascal Wehrlein, a 2012 Formula 3 Euro champion and later Formula E champion, seven times, and Oliver Rowland, who won the 2015 Formula V8 3.5 championship, eight times across their shared racing. His career in Formula E ran long enough for him to accumulate meaningful experience against professional-grade opposition across the grid's full span.
