🇺🇸 Jaques Lazier

Jaques Lazier was a professional oval-track racing driver in IndyCar, where he competed for Target Chip Ganassi Racing from 1999 to 2009. Across 56 starts in the series, he took one win and three podium finishes.[1]

Lazier spent a full decade in IndyCar as a regular entrant on the oval circuits that made up the championship. His single victory came during that span, and he finished 26th in the final championship standings of his last season in 2009. He raced alongside established professionals throughout his career; he was closely matched with Scott Sharp, a Platinum-graded driver who competed across IndyCar, IMSA WeatherTech and the World Endurance Championship, though he typically finished behind two-time IndyCar champion Sam Hornish Jr. when the two met on track. Lazier finished ahead of Dario Franchitti on four occasions, a four-time IndyCar champion, and beat Mike Conway once, a Platinum-graded driver who would later win the 2013 WEC LMP2 championship and the 2021 WEC Hypercar title. He drove for Truscelli Team Racing in 12 of his starts, a small operation that fielded four drivers across the index with Lazier as its strongest entry.[2]
