Keiichi Nishimiya is a semi-professional driver, rated 4,052; this places him at the level of a national championship front-runner or a sharp end competitor in a strong feeder series, though his record shows he operated below that standard in practice. His racing career spanned three seasons from 1995 to 1997, confined entirely to Formula 3 Macau, where he made five starts without a win or podium finish. He averaged 17th place across classified results, consistently finishing outside the points.[1]
Nishimiya raced in fields that included several drivers of considerably higher calibre. His most frequent rival was Andrรฉ Couto, a FIA Silver graded professional rated 4,656, whom Nishimiya failed to beat across five shared races. He also encountered Pedro de la Rosa and Jarno Trulli, both elite professionals rated above 6,500 and 5,900 respectively, finishing behind both drivers in all four races they shared. Against the entire field, Nishimiya finished ahead of only four drivers of note across his career: Yuji Tachikawa (who would go on to win the Super GT championship twice), Jonny Kane, Ryo Michigami, and Koji Yamanishi, each beaten once. These isolated results offer little evidence of competitive strength; they reflect simply that even in strong fields, a back-marker will occasionally finish ahead of better drivers through circumstance. Nishimiya retired from racing after 1997 without establishing a competitive record at his chosen level.
