Masahiro Sasaki is an entry-level professional driver racing in shared-car endurance championships. He competes in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and Nürburgring 24 Hours, both multiclass endurance series run at the Nürburgring in Germany, where he drives turbocharged production-based race cars for Team HAL and TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing. His earlier racing came in Super GT, Japan's national multiclass endurance championship, where he drove GT300-class machinery for Arto Ping An Team Thailand between 2010 and 2020.[1]
Across seven seasons of indexed racing Sasaki has taken four podiums from 25 starts. His sole finish in the Nürburgring 24 Hours came in 2019. In the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie he has three podiums across five starts, the bulk of his scoring coming in that series. His Super GT tenure spanned a decade with 17 starts but produced no podium finishes; his final season there in 2020 yielded three rounds and a 27th-place championship standing.[2]
Sasaki typically finishes behind established professionals who are far more experienced in shared-car racing. Nobuteru Taniguchi and Tatsuya Kataoka, both three-time Super GT GT300 champions with well over a hundred starts each in the series, are regular competitors who consistently outpace him. Sasaki has occasionally finished ahead of Gold-graded professionals; he beat Katsumasa Chiyo, a 95-time Super GT starter, three times and Yuhi Sekiguchi, the 2021 Super GT GT500 champion, four times in head-to-head competition.
